Spielberg Introduces New War Horse Clip

Plus star Jeremy Irvine says helloOh Mr. Spielberg, you really are spoiling us. First there's your intro with Mr. Peter Jackson for the Tintin footage we saw earlier, now we get to see your smiling face once more as you bring us a fresh look at War Horse. Hello Empire Big Screen - I love saying that word, BIG Screen - sorry I am not there in person with you guys and gals, but I am so happy you're getting the first look of War Horse. I'll be back in London soon, but in the meantime, please take a look at something I that I am so proud of... And then we saw a lovely trailer of sorts that cut together shots from the film with an interview with Spielberg himself, where the big man tells us how he went about making it to bring families together . As for the actual footage itself, there's loads more jaw-dropping shots of the British countryside, bathed in orange sunlight and dripping with nostalgia, some better looks at inside the farm as well as the trenches, plus some humongous howitzers that the fear of God into the Big Screen crowd. The star of the film - aside from Joey the horse himself, of course - goes by the name of Jeremy Irvine, and would you beleive it, he came on down to say hi to the Big Screen congregation after the footage was shown, telling us this story while he was at it.... "My great grandfather was in the Gurkas, and he had a horse that stayed with him through the war. So when I got started on the film, my auntie sent me these photos and this receipt for when he bought the horse off the army - and unbelievably, he bought his horse for exactly the same price as Joey was. Clearly it was meant to be!" Check out the trailer for War Horse below, and when you're done with that, be sure to check out the rest of your favourite movie magazine's coverage of the adaptation. That's us, by the way. In case you were wondering. Ahem. War Horse is out in cinemas January 13, 2012.
